Callum Skinner – Cycling

One of Britain’s brightest up and coming track cyclists, Scotsman Callum Skinner made his mark on the track in 2008 breaking three records along the way and becoming the first ever recipient of The Edinburgh Council, Chris Hoy Award for most promising East of Scotland cyclist. Currently a member of the British Cycling Olympic Development Programme, Callum is determined to continue to achieve great things in sprint cycling and prove his worth on the bike for a chance to compete at the London 2012 Games.

“The prospect of competing at any Olympic Games is exhilarating so the opportunity to compete at home in London is extraordinary. The idea of representing my country at 2012 is a key motivator, and it makes me push my self harder and harder everyday.”

News from Callum
9 April 2012
“I’d not long been back from a road camp in Majorca when I took part in the first race of the 2012 season, the Good Friday Open Sprint at Herne Hill Velodrome, London. I finished 2nd overall in the 200m sprint. To complement the main sprint competition there was also a Handicap event and a Keirin in which I finished in 2nd and 4th respectively. Overall a great opener to the season and hopefully bodes well for my next race back home at Meadowbank Velodrome on the 6th of June!”

23 March 2012
“I made it home to Edinburgh to visit Rosewell and Newtongrange Primary Schools before attending the final of the Edinburgh Interschool Cycle Speedway at the Jack Kane Centre to present some awards. It was great to have the opportunity to meet some successful school teams competing today!”
